Aung Kyaw Naing and Ma Cho Lay are members of a fishing community struggling to make a living along a stretch of coastline near Thanbyuzayat in Mon State in Myanmar. Soon they will be faced with a curtailed fishing season as a result of new government legislation.

Cinematographer and director Khin Maung Kyaw is originally from Thanbyuzayat in Myanmar’s Mon State, but is currently based in Yangon. Joining YFS in 2011 kick-started his career in documentary; he has since worked on over 15 documentaries as cinematographer, including Take Me Home by Shin Daewe which won Best Documentary Award at Wathann Film Fest#3 in Yangon, Myanmar in 2013. When the Boat Comes In marks his directorial debut.
