BIOGRAPHY
Nang Cho Lae Yee Thein (23) is Pa-O-Kayin-Chinese and was born in Taunggyi in Myanmar’s Shan State. An avid reader, storytelling has long held a fascination for her. After attending a PEN screenwriting course in Taunggyi, she was unable to find anywhere to learn filmmaking in her home town and so decided to apply for a place at Yangon Film School. Since enrolling at YFS, she has worked on two projects by fellow students, including Sai Nyi Min Htut’s Boy Queen which she co-edited with him. The Singing Bookman is her first film as a director.
