Born in southern Kachin State in Myanmar in 1974, Zin Myo Sett studied English at Taunggyi University and worked as a tour guide and an interpreter for development organisations before attending Yangon Film School from 2007 to 2009. Whilst at YFS, he was cinematographer on Thiha Thwe’s Far From Home. Produced by the School’s production arm Yangon Film Services for the NGO Pyoe Pin, Our Forests, Our Future was his first documentary as a director.
