Synopsis
Insein Rhythm is a humorously edited portrait of the sights, sounds and rhythms of Yangon’s Insein railway station – but a stone’s throw from the country’s infamous Insein prison.
Director's Biography
Soe Moe Aung (born in 1985) is from Hmawbi, a town about 30 kilometres northwest of Myanmar’s former capital of Yangon. Having trained as an audio technician and radio announcer, he worked for a number of local stations and also wrote drama for radio before joining Yangon Film School in 2012. His first short YFS documentary, Insein Rhythm, premiered at Visions du réel international documentary film festival in Nyon in Switzerland in 2013; his short drama, Next Month, won an award at the Wathann Film Festival in Yangon in 2013. He has since directed another short fictional work, To School which was produced during a Yangon Film School course, as was A Man for All Seasons.
