Reflections on an urban farm
Synopsis
A visit to the lush Kokkoya organic farm in the heart of the city of Yangon prompts the filmmaker to reflect on the nature of humankind’s relationship with the soil and all that lives and breathes.
Director's Statement
I have always been fascinated by nature: the trees, the wind, the earth, and everything in and around it. As a child I remember catching fireflies, watching birds and gazing at stars. As I’ve grown older, I’ve noticed that there are far fewer insects around and it has got much hotter. Global warming is real. When I visited Kokkoya urban farm in Myanmar’s biggest city, I knew I had to make this film to remind us all of the joy we felt as children discovering a tiny insect or animal on a leaf. Little did we know then how important that leaf and that insect is to our eco-system.
